Company2you

About

Company2you is a community-focused befriending service dedicated to reducing loneliness and social isolation among older adults by providing meaningful companionship and emotional support.

The service recognises that many older people experience loneliness due to bereavement, ill health, reduced mobility, or living alone. Its primary aim is to improve wellbeing by creating trusted, supportive relationships that help individuals remain socially connected and feel valued within their communities.

The service matches older adults with compassionate volunteers or befrienders who provide regular companionship through home visits, telephone calls, or community outings, depending on individual needs and preferences. These interactions may include friendly conversations, sharing hobbies, enjoying a cup of tea, accompanying someone on a short walk, or encouraging participation in local activities. By offering consistent social contact, Company2you helps reduce feelings of isolation while promoting confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing.

Beyond providing companionship, Company2you contributes to improving quality of life by encouraging social inclusion and helping older people maintain connections with their local communities. Regular contact also enables volunteers to notice changes in wellbeing and signpost individuals to appropriate support services when necessary. This preventative approach can help reduce the negative physical and mental health effects associated with prolonged loneliness.

Overall, Company2you’s befriending service offers more than friendship; it provides reassurance, dignity, and a sense of belonging. By fostering meaningful relationships between volunteers and older adults, the organisation creates stronger, more connected communities where individuals feel supported, respected, and empowered to live happier, healthier lives.
